I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. I am Native American and come from the Tohono O'odham Tribe. Tohono O'odham means "Desert People," in my native language. My reservation is the second largest in the Nation and there are approximately 28,000 tribally enrolled members.

I graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. with my bachelor's degree in journalism and minor in American Indian Studies.

I attended the 2011 New York Times Student Journalism Institute in Miami, Fla. I was named a 2011 Freedom Forum Chips Quinn Scholar.

In 2010, I was a Science Intern for Wick Communications where I covered astronomy and enviornmental related issues. My work was primarly published in The Green Valley News and Sun and The Sierra Vista Herald. Both newspapers are located in Arizona.

I am a 2008 and 2009 graduate of the Freedum Forum American Indian Journalism Institute held in Vermillion, SD.

In 2009, I was a Multimedia Intern for the St. Cloud Times in St. Cloud, Minn. I produced 16 videos during my six weeks in St. Cloud.

In 2008, I was a Reporting Intern for The Daily Times in Farmington, NM. I covered everything from News to Religion.
