An arrest warrant has been issued for Joseph D. Cooley who has been charged with murder and attempted murder
An arrest warrant has been issued charging Joseph D. Cooley with murder and attempted murder, for the fatal shooting of Tiana Montgomery and shooting of Darrold Edwards early Wednesday in Shoreline. Cooley is 20 years old. He stands 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds. He is believed to be armed. As a result of the Sheriff’s Office investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office has filed murder and attempted murder charges related to this homicide, the death of Tiana Montgomery. While Detectives continue to search for Cooley, they want to remind the public that this shooting was not a random act and it doesn’t appear to be gang related. The city of Shoreline's free Recycle Fest event will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Shoreline Park & Ride Aurora Ave N at 192nd. At Recycle Fest, you can recycle many items that aren't accepted in your recycle bin. Items such as Styrofoam, bicycles and concrete will be accepted, and a full list of items accepted will be mailed out to all residents closer to the event date. No garbage or yard waste accepted. Recycle Fest will be free for all Shoreline residents. Proof of residency will be required. Note that only pick-up trucks or smaller vehicles will be allowed to enter. A 16-year-old boy was arrested after he pointed a gun at a male and demanded money
A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Shoreline for pointing a gun at a man and attempting to rob him in the 300 block of N.E. 158th St. in Shoreline Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred about 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday and police were called about 10 minutes later, said Captain Scott Strathy of the Shoreline Police Department. The suspect allegedly pulled a small-caliber gun out of his right pants pocket and demanded that the victim give him money. The victim said no, a brief struggle ensued and the victim got away. When police arrived the hood was up on the suspect's vehicle and he was with another person. Police advised the two individuals of their rights and both denied they had a gun. Jeff Fransen replaces Steve Bain who led Knights to two 1A state titles
King’s High School has hired Jeff Fransen to the position of head volleyball coach. Joining King’s, Fransen inherits one of the state’s most successful high school volleyball programs. King’s holds state championship titles for 2008 and 2009, with a second place finish in 2010, and a third place finish in 2011. Coach Fransen is well-known in King’s athletics and the King’s community, as both of his children are students at King’s and his daughter played a prominent role for the Knights volleyball team for four years. Detectives have name of a suspect but are not releasing the person's name
Jealously appears to have played a role in an argument that preceded the shooting death of a 17-year-old Shorecrest senior and 18-year-old Shorewood senior early Wednesday, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. The identity of the suspect is known, the Sheriff's Office said, but the name of the person is not being released because of the ongoing investigation. The shooting was not random or part of a gang conflict, said operations captain Scott Strathy of the Shoreline Police Department. It occurred about 12:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Richmond Beach Road outside the Maplewood Court Apartments on the border of the Hillwood and Richmond Highlands neighborhoods. The mother of Darrold Devaughn Edwards, a teen shot up to seven times on the 300 block of Richmond Beach Road early Wednesday in Shoreline told KIRO-TV she wants the shooter to surrender. Tiana Montgomery, a senior at Shorecrest, was killed and Edwards, a college-bound senior at Shorewood, was seriously wounded when gunfire erupted after an argument at the Maplewood Court Apartments off Richmond Beach Road. Edwards is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center. "What I really want is for the person who shot Darrold and Tiana, just come forward," said Sharon Banks-Lee, the mother of Edwards, told KIRO. "We don't want him to hurt anybody else. Teen was intoxicated when she jumped
The King County Medical Examiner has determined that Kelsey Lippincott, a 17-year-old former Shorewood High School student, died of massive injuries when she jumped from the 145th St. overpass in Shoreline onto I-5. Lippincott died as a result of blunt force injury to the head, skull and facial fractures, rib and clavicle fractures, laceration of the brain, liver, kidney and pulmonary lacerations, and pelvic and extremity fractures. The Medical Examiner ruled the death a suicide. A relative of Lippincott's said the teen was intoxicated when she jumped onto the freeway. The Washington State Patrol is still investigating the case.
