The volunteers for the Shoreline Green Business Program are taking a short year-end break. Look for new postings in January.

LED Christmas Lights are just as bright and cheery as conventional lights, come in a wide variety of styles, use a fraction of the electricity as conventional bulbs, and now have come down in cost.

Buying locally helps reduce the amount of greenhouse gases associated with your purchase.

Using live trees for Christmas helps support local commerce. Live trees are a renewable resource that improves air quality while growing and can be mulched for compost. If you buy a small potted tree and put it into a large pot, it can be used for several years in a row and then donated for habitat restoration.

Plastic trees, though reusable, end up in landfills after several years when they become unattractive. The plastic in the trees does not decompose.
