ShoreDog Hosts 3rd Annual DogFest

Come show off your dog's mad skills and interact with other local dog-owners this Saturday from 11-3.

This Saturday (August 13), ShoreDog will be hosting the third annual DogFest at the Shoreview off-leash park from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The event will include many amusing activities for the dogs. Dogs will be judged on such characteristics as Best Trick, Owner/Pet Lookalike, Best Eyes, Best Shedder and a Doggie Pie Eating Contest. There will also be a Doggie Dash, in which the dogs will be split into four heats (determined by size) in order to maintain equity.

New this year, the Annual DogFest will include flyball demonstrations, an exciting dog relay race complete with flying tennis balls and hurdles. Seattle Flydogs will host the demonstration.

For owners of the four-legged friends, there will be free hot dogs and bottled water in addition to a vendor fair and pet expo.

The cost of participation is $5 for one event and $10 for unlimited events. It is highly recommended that you arrive early so you have enough time to register and prepare your dog for the events.

Proceeds from the event will go to ShoreDog, which is a volunteer group committed to instituting off-leash dog parks in the city of Shoreline. It is important to note that the organization was recently designated as a tax-exempt non-profit by the IRS.
