This Week in High School Football, Shoreline Edition

Shorewood, Shorecrest and King's all won last week; who will get it done again?

What: Shorecrest vs. Glacier Peak

Where: Glacier Peak High School

When: September 16, 7 p.m.

Breakdown: Shorecrest picked up its first win on the young season last week, sneaking past Mountlake Terrace 26-21. Quarterback Ted Hammond rushed for two touchdowns in the win, including the go-ahead score on an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter. Glacier Peak is also 1-1 on the season, having followed its week one win over Lynnwood with a close 30-27 loss to Oak Harbor last week in which the Grizzlies blew a 27-10 lead in the fourth quarter.  David Linney accounted for all four Glacier Peak touchdowns late week (2 pass, 2 rush).

What: Shorewood vs. Oak Harbor

Where: Oak Harbor High School

When: September 16, 7 p.m.

Breakdown: Shorewood (1-1, 1-1 WesCo 3A) is coming off its first win of the season, a 28-16 win over Lynnwood last week. The T-Birds have been led so far this season by running back Eugene Holley, who went for 182 yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries against Lynnwood. Oak Harbor (2-0, 2-0 WesCo 3A) is coming off a come-from-behind 30-27 win over Glacier Peak in which it scored 20 unanswered points to close the game.

Patch Pick: Oak Harbor 35, Shorewood 21.

 

What: King’s vs. Sultan

Where: Sultan High School

When: September 16, 7 pm.

Breakdown: The questions surrounding the King’s offense have been answered in the first two games of the season, as the Knights have averaged 34.5 points per game in two wins to start the year. King’s junior quarterback Billy Green has led the way, throwing for 429 yards and 8 touchdowns in his first two starts. Sultan is 1-1 on the season and is coming off a 41-6 win over Darrington after starting the season with a 25-0 loss to Cascade.
