Shorecrest began the season with a rough loss to WesCo 3A foe Meadowdale last Friday, falling 41-7. The Scots trailed from the start, falling behind 41-0 before a late touchdown pass from Ted Hammond to Keegan Lockler got them their first points of the season.

Next up for Shorecrest is another conference opponent in Mountlake Terrace. Mountlake Terrace got off to an equally disappointing start in its first game, falling 42-0 to Oak Harbor. The Hawks surrendered 455 yards in that contest, 416 of them on the ground.

The 2011 campaign got off to a rough start for the under-manned Scots, but Friday should give them an opportunity to pick up their first win of the season. The game is at Mountlake Terrace and is schedule for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Shorewood

Shorewood opened the season in competitive fashion, hanging with Everett for three quarters before ultimately falling 27-7. The Thunderbirds trailed just 13-7 heading into the fourth quarter, but were shut out in the final frame. Eugene Holley scored the lone Shorewood touchdown on a 38-yard run in the third quarter.

The Thunderbirds face off against Lynwood on Friday night in a WesCo 3A contest. Lynwood fell to Glacier Peak in the season opener, 56-14. That game kicks off at 7 p.m. on September 9 at Shorewood.

King’s

The King’s football season got off to a strong start in week one, as the Knights cruised past Lakeside 35-6. New starting quarterback Billy Green got off to a hot start and finished with 187 yards passing and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Caleb Taylor caught six passes for 119 yards and three touchdowns.

King’s travels to Coupeville in week two. Coupeville was a 29-19 winner over Port Townsend on Friday night, with Danny Savalza leading the way with 100 rushing yards on 18 carries in the victory. King’s and Coupeville kick off at 7 pm.
