Shorecrest Fastpitch 2011 Season Preview

In her second season as captain, senior Christina Jarvis is being relied upon to lead a young team in 3A WesCo.

Team: Scots

League: 3A WesCo

Coach: Jackie Berg

Key Returners: 3B Veronica Dalton, senior; SS Christina Jarvis, senior; P Amanda Hartley, sophomore; C Katie Eshelman, senior

Impact Newcomers: C Sophie Knudsen, freshman; Utility Anisa Gomez, freshman; OF Callie Anderson, freshman

A Look Back: The Scots finished 7-15 last year (7-13 in league) before falling in district playoffs to WesCo rival Glacier Peak.

The Scots had a difficult season, with big losses to key conference opponents including Lynnwood and Shorewood.

2011 Outlook: The Scots look to grow and develop a young, inexperienced team. The squad is already being tested, going 2-2 in its first four outings with no game decided by more than two runs. The girls pulled out a nice 4-2 win over Lynnwood on Thursday behind two homers and solid pitching from sophomore Amanda Hartley.

Three-sport star and second-year captain Christina Jarvis (all-conference second team last season) hopes to provide some leadership and softball savvy to a team heavy on underclassmen.

Top Tickets: Shorewood, 5 p.m. Thursday, April 7; at Glacier Peak, 4 p.m. Friday April 15; Everett, 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 4
