Shorecrest Baseball 2011 Season Preview

The Scots face stiff competition in the realigned 3A WesCo, including a March 30 home game versus league favorite Shorewood.

Team: Scots

League: 3A WesCo

Coach: Alan Bruns

Key Returners: P/OF Ted Hammond, junior; P DJ Oliver, senior; SS/P Henry Dickmeyer, senior

Impact Newcomers: OF Hayden McNabb, sophomore

A Look Back: After ending the season 10-14 overall with a 6-12 league record, the Scots shut out Everett 5-0 before losing to Ferndale in the district playoffs.

The Scots played close games throughout the season but found themselves on the losing end in conference, including falling in slugfests to Glacier Peak and Meadowdale by scores of 18-17 and 17-16, respectively.

2011 Outlook: Heading into conference play Shorecrest sits at 2-3 after an exciting walk-off victory over Stanwood on Wednesday.

The Scots will need the momentum as the new 3A WesCo looks to be tough, and they will have little margin of error from the very start: their first conference games are against Oak Harbor (which has dropped a classification from 4A), this season’s 3A favorite Shorewood (also moved down from 4A), and Meadowdale, another early contender.

Top Tickets: Shorewood, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30; at Meadowdale, 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 5
