Ambassadors Dribble Into Shoreline

The internationally acclaimed Harlem Ambassadors show basketball team will make a stop in Shoreline on November 7.

Around 500 people are expected for the game and show which will feature two local teams, put together by the local fire district, and Shoreline Community College head coach Greg Turcott, taking on the Ambassadors. The success of similar games in other cities served as inspiration for the Edmonds Kiwanis Club to put on a game of their own. 

"We had information from a Rotary group that they (the Ambassadors) were a hit," said Kiwanis Club member Scott Pharris, who's helping organize the event. "We needed another larger yearly fundraiser for our larger/longer commitments."

Tipoff is at 7 P.M. in the Shoreline Community College gym (16101 Greenwood Ave N). Proceeds from the events will go to the Edmonds Kiwanis Club.

"The board decides each meeting where to allocate funds," said Pharris. "We have a yearly child's bike helmet giveaway, a dictionary giveaway, and we award scholarships to applicants in our support areas. We also promote information and prevention for the "Shaking Baby Prevention Program," among other things, depending upon fundraising funds available."

Advance tickets are available at Running in Motion in Edmonds (401 Main St) and Windermere Shoreline (900 N 185th St). Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and $6 for kids 6-12. Children 5 and younger are free.
