White House Representative Meets with King's High School Students

Students discuss solutions to bullying on May 26

King’s High School students participated in the Young Americans Roundtable Project, sponsored by the White House on May 26.  The project encourages young Americans to develop roundtable meetings to discuss issues of concern for the youth and their communities.  The purpose of the project is to generate ideas and express those ideas to the White House.

White House representative, Shasti Conrad and Trina Castle, administrative programs director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture were present as King’s student leaders and school administrators discussed key issues facing young people today.

The topic generating the most discussion was the causes and impact of bullying on America’s youth.   After careful research, King’s students presented several solutions, including a student-led campaign that would begin in elementary school.  This idea and others will be communicated to the White House.
