Students Break Ground For New Shorewood High School

Shorewood students future and present help usher in new construction

About 250 people including students, parents, School Board, City Councilmembers and legislators attended a groundbreaking for the new Shorewood High School Monday, Oct. 17.

All westside Shoreline Schools were represented including Syre, Parkwood, Meridan Park, Highland Terrace, Echo Lake, Room Nine, Einstein and Shorewood.

Students representing each school participated in the groundbreaking ceremony following a speeches by Shorewood principal Bill Dunbar and others.

The school is supposed to be completed in time to open for the 2013-14 school year.

The current building will be in use through 2012-2013 utilizing portable classrooms.

The old building will be eventually torn down to make way for athletic fields and parking.
