3A state track participants set; state meet is Thurs. to Sat. at Mount Tahoma High School near Tacoma

Shorewood's Chris Babcock finished second in the boys State 3A tournament at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane with a two-day total of 69-75-144.  Cassie McKinley of Shorewood finished eighth in the girls tournament with a 76-77-153 total.

Boys and Girls Golf:

Shorewood's Chris Babcock is tied for first place with a 69 in the first round of the boys State 3A tournament at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane.  Cassie McKinley of Shorewood is tied for eighth in the girls tournament with a 76. The second and final round is Wednesday. 

Boys and Girls Track and Field:

The 3A NW District Track and Field championships finished Thursday in Oak Harbor. The Shorecrest boys were second and Shorewood fifth in the meet. Boys qualifying for state were Carter Osborne (Shorecrest) in the 1,600; Aldin Vojnikovic (Shorewood) high jump, John Odion (Shorecrest) in the long jump; Joe Dexter (Shorecrest) in the pole vault, David Fan (SW) in the 100; Arious (Taz) Frazier (Shorecrest) in the javelin. Shorewood (Chris Namba, Erik Johnson, Niko Frazier, David Fan) and Shorecrest (Rotimi Bolonduro, Michael Doquilo, Will McNamara, Adrian Monroe) in the 400 relay. John Odion (SC) in the Triple Jump. 800--Carter Osborne (Shorecrest). 200--Niko Frazier (SW).

Girls qualifying for state are Alaina Olson in the high jump; Charity Ijiomah (Shorewood) and Nicole Harris (Shorecrest) in the long jump; Onyie Chibuogwu (Shorecrest) in the discus; and Aiko Mizumori-Canfield (Shorecrest) in the javelin; 800 relay--1. Shorecrest (Kathryn Andria-Habermann, Sarah Beland, Nicole Harris, Amanda Banks). Shot put--1. Diandre Musikachart (Sh); 100--1. Charity Ijiomah (SW). 400 relay--1. Shorewood (Erin Arslanoglu, Jennifer Franklin, Bethany Smith, Charity Ijiomah). 400--1. Kathryn Andria-Habermann (SC); 300 hurdles--1. Nicole Harris (SC).

The State 3A championships will be held Thursday through Saturday at Mount Tahoma High School near Tacoma.

Boys and Girls Tennis:

Shorecrest won the 3A District 1 tennis championship Tuesday in Snohomish, with Meera Limaye finishing second in singles and qualifying for the state tournament. Francesca O'Malley and Daniella Brengelmann of Shorewood won the doubles championship, also qualifying for state. Juan Ramirez of Shorecrest and the doubles team of Nelson and Jamieson from Shorewood will participate in the boys tournament. The 3A state championships will be held May 25-26 in Kennewick.
