Alessandro Lindahl-Banducci, a leader of Shorewood High School’s FIRST robotics programming department, has won a trip to National Youth Science Camp in Bartow, West Virginia this summer, the office of Washington’s Superintendent of Public Instruction has announced.

In 2009, Lindahl-Banducci was one of the youngest students to receive a grant for the Ashoka Youth Ventures, which helps students create social change. He enjoys music and photography in his spare time, according to a state press release.

He was one of two students in Washington chosen for the June 26-July 20
camp, the other being Naheed Arang of Arlington High School.

Established in 1963 as a part of West Virginia’s Centennial Celebration, the National Youth Science Camp is an annual summer forum that gathers two delegates representing each state to exchange ideas with leading scientists. It includes an outdoor recreation program, taking advantage of the camp’s location in the Monongahela National Forest.
