Shorewood Cheer, Drama and Orchestra Crowned Academic State Champions

Cheer, drama and orchestra all had highest team GPAs in 3A classification

Shorewood High School cheer, drama and orchestra students have been selected as Academic State Champions for the winter sports season by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, Dairy Farmers of Washington, and Les Schwab Tires.

The Scholastic Awards Program recognizes the team with the highest grade point average among all Washington high schools in their enrollment classification. Shorewood is classified as a 3A school.

The Shorewood cheer squad, coached by Vicki Gorman, has a 3.71 combined grade point average (GPA) among its 13 members. This is the second consecutive year Shorewood cheer has received this honor.

Shorewood drama, taught by Barbara Lachman, has a combined 3.56 GPA among its 31 members. The Shorewood orchestra, taught by Dan Wing, has a combined 3.64 GPA among its 40 members.

The winning teams will be presented with a special plaque at the upcoming WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires State Championships. A complete list of the winning teams can be found on the WIAA Web site.
