Shorecrest and Shorewood Track Athletes Headed to State

A large contingent of Shorewood and Shorecrest athletes clinched state meet berths Friday, led by Shorewood senior Erin Johnson, who broke a 3A District 1 meet record in the girls 800 meters and earned her fourth trip to the state track and field meet.

 Johnson’s time of 2 minutes, 14.68 seconds broke the previous meet record of 2:14.80 set by Karen Vann of Lynnwood.

 Shorewood’s David Fan won the boys 100 meters and on the girls side Miriam Mboya won the 100 meters.

 The Shorewood girls won the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x200 meter relay.

 Shorecrest’s Dillon Baker won the boys 110 meter high hurdles and on the girls side Nicole Harris won the 200 meters while Elisa Ahearn took the triple jump title.

 The Scots also won the boys 4x100 meter relay and the girls 4x400 meter relay.

 Two other meet records were broken: Jeff Bastain of Glacier Peak won the 3,200 meters in 9:07.05, breaking the previous record set in 1999 by Dustin Duke of Jackson in 9:10.10.

 Amy Eloise Neale of Glacier Peak won the 1,600 meters in 4:43.34 breaking her own record of 4:52.06 that was set last year.

 The top three athletes in individual events and top three teams in relay events qualified for state.
