Lori Longo is filling in for principal Aimee Miner.

Former Kellogg Middle School principal Lori Longo will fill in as principal at Lake Forest Park Elementary School starting next week.

Longo, who retired last year after serving 11 years as Kellogg principal, is filling in for Lake Forest Park principal Aimee Miner, the district said in an email to parents Thursday.

District Superintendent Sue Walker sent this email to Lake Forest Park parents:

As many of you know, Principal Miner has been unexpectedly out of the building on non-health related leave since January 7. During this time, the principal-designee Jennifer Welch has been the acting principal, and a substitute teacher has been in Ms. Welch’s third grade classroom.

While Ms. Welch has done an exceptional job in covering the principal duties at Lake Forest Park, it is our priority to get her back into her classroom with her students. Therefore, we have arranged for former Kellogg principal, Lori Longo, to fill in as principal at Lake Forest Park beginning next week.

District spokesman Craig Degginger said Friday the district did not know how long Longo would be filling in, and had no further comment on Miner’s absence.

Miner has been principal at the school since 2009. Her out-of-office email reply said she was temporarily out of the office.

Longo was chosen in 2010 as the Kingco North Regional Distinguished Principal of the Year by the Association of Washington Middle Level Principals.
