OfficeMax Honors Echo Lake Teacher on 'A Day Made Better'

Echo Lake Elementary School kindergarten teacher Christy Smullin is among more than 1,000 educators across the country to be recognized as part of the OfficeMax "A Day Made Better" nationwide surprise events on Tuesday, October 4.

Smullin was nominated by her school and selected for a surprise visit from OfficeMax store staff members, according to a Shoreline School District press release.

Each donation, valued at $1,000, includes a digital camera, printer, one leather swivel chair and a large box containing classroom supplies. In addition, Woodinville Office Max store manager Allan Olson and his staff presented Echo Lake Principal Michelle Carroll with boxes full of school supplies donated by their customers as part of an in-store drive.

The name, "A Day Made Better," is derived from the concept that OfficeMax can make at least one day better for educators, providing teachers with essential classroom supplies.

Since "A Day Made Better" first began in 2007, OfficeMax has awarded more than $5.5 million in supplies to 5,500 teachers at schools and their classrooms on behalf of the cause and helped attract donations for 10,000 classrooms through Adopt-A-Classroom.
