National Merit Scholarship Names Shoreline Semifinalists
Three from the Shoreline School District were named as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.
Shorecrest and Shorewood high school seniors were named as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
According to the organization, these high school seniors have an opportunity t continue in the competition for some 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth about $35 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.
About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title, according to the organization.
