King's Football Team Beats Lakewood for Cascade Conference Title

King's won the battle of unbeatens over Lakewood for its first Cascade Conference title Friday night at Woolsey Stadium in Shoreline.

The Knights beat the visiting Cougars in a 55-42 shootout.

Senior quarterback Billy Green, a BYU-commit, completed 23-of-34 passes for 312 yards and six touchdowns to five different receivers. He threw TD passes of 81, 34, 33, 24, 9 and 1-yard in the game as King's pulled away in the second half.

Trevor Hansen added 12 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown for King's. Green had touchdown passes of 81, 34, 33, 24, 9 and 1 yard in the game.

The long-awaited showdown featured King's the No. 1-ranked team in Class 1A and Lakewood, the No. 3-ranked team in Class 2A in the state. 

"It gives us a lot of momentum going into the playoffs knowing that we just beat a top-five 2A team," Green told the Everett Herald. "They're a great team. This is a big win for our team. The whole team has a lot more confidence going in knowing we can compete with these big time teams. And we've done it all year, Lynden, Archbishop (Murphy), Lakewood now. The team's just done a great job."
