Fall Sports Postseason Update: Shorewood Girls 7th in State 3A Swimming

Shorewood, the 3A District 1 champions, finished a strong seventh in the state 3A meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. The T-Birds were fourth in both the 200 medley relay (Britt Blomso, Christina Garrison, Ann Tardiff, Anni Hecker) and the 200 freestyle relay (Blomso, Annika Stenfjord, Garrison, Hecker). Hecker was fifth in the 100 freesyle and sixth in the 50 freestyle.

The T-Birds previously won Districts with 517 points in Marysville. The T-Birds won the 200 medley relay-Britt Blomso, Christina Garrison, Ann Tardiff, and Anni Hecker, which set a new school record in 1:53.35, and the 200 freestyle relay-Ari Norberg, Britt Blomso, Christina Garrison, and Annika Stenfjord in 1:43.73. The T-birds qualified seven individual and three relay teams to enter the state meet. Shorewood Coach Susie McDowell was named 3A District 1 Coach of the Year. 

Girls Soccer: 

Shorecrest (13-5-3) lost to Liberty of Issaquah 2-0 on Wednesday in the first round of the state 3A tournament, ending their season.

Volleyball: 

Shorewood girls lost matches to North Thurston and Seattle Prep to in the state 3A tournament in Lacey. It was Shorewood's first appearance at state since 1998 following their victory in the 3A District 1 tournament.

Cross Country: 

Shorewood's boys team finished tied for 11th in the 3A state championships held Saturday in Pasco. Carter Osborne of Shorecrest was 17th overall.

Gigi Vujovich of Shorecrest was 23rd overall in the girls championships.
