Cascade K-8 Community School Parents Collect Votes for Arts Education Grant

Parents from Cascade K-8 Community School have set their sights on an Arts Education grant being offered by Kris Wine. The contest is happening on Facebook.

In late September, some parents noticed that the contest had started, and began voting. At first, the voting was slow. But in less than two weeks, they watched their “little school that could” climb to 20th place. 

Prizes for this contest will be distributed as follows: $5000 to first place, $2000 to the next 5 schools (2nd-6th place), and $1000 to the next 10 schools (7th-16th). Voting will continue through October 31st, 2012. 

When a parent noticed that Cascade K-8 was only a few places away from 16th (the lowest place that will win), momentum started to build! The progress since then has been impressive. With a total enrollment of about 150 students, Cascade K-8 Community School parents have banded together to march up in the ranks all the way to 6th place! 

If you would like to vote for Cascade K-8 in the Kris Wine Art of Education contest, here’s what you need to do:

1. Find Kris Wine on Facebook, and “like” their business page 
2. Click to "Like" Kris Wine's Facebook Page 
3. Click on the box that's labeled "vote here" in their top navigation area (to the right, it has a picture that says "Win $5000 for your kids school") 
4. Accept the terms for their contest app. 
5. Click on the purple circle that says "vote here." 
6. Type in "Cascade K-8" in the search box above the map. 
7. Click on the pin that shows up in northwest Washington 
8. Click inside the orange check box to submit your vote

After you’ve voted once, you can just head back to the app, and start with step 5. Votes are accepted once from each user every day.
