What's Open and Closed on Veterans Day Holiday
Most banks, government offices and public schools are closed on Monday
Veteran's Day is Nov. 11, which falls on a Sunday this year. However, many, but not all, government offices will observe it on Monday, Nov. 12. Here is a list of what’s open and what's closed.
Shoreline City Hall is closed Monday, except for a Veteran's Day event at 2 p.m. The City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Shoreline School District. Closed Monday, classes will resume Nov. 13.

King County government: Closed. King County Elections will continue to count ballots.
King County Library System was closed Sunday for the holiday, but will be open Monday.
King County Metro: Reduced weekday schedule.
King County Transfer Stations (Garbage): Open.
Sound Transit: Regular weekday Schedule.
State of Washington: Closed.
Federal government (including the U.S. Postal Service): Closed
Banks: Many, if not most, will be closed. Check your local branch.
Cleanscapes in Shoreline and Allied Waste in Lake Forest Park: Regular recycling and garbage service.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Day commemorates Armistice Day -- the day when World War I hostilities ended between the Allies and Germany. Veterans Day is officially observed on Nov. 11, regardless of which day it falls.
