Student Art Exhibit Featured at Shoreline City Hall

The exhibit runs from September 12 to 23.

The City of Shoreline and the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council, in partnership with CleanScapes, the provider of garbage, recycling, and food scraps and yard debris collection for Shoreline residents, have teamed up to host a special art exhibit with works from twenty-two students at local elementary schools.

Available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Shoreline City Hall lobby (17500 Midvale Avenue North) from September 12-23, the artwork, some of which coming from students at Meridian Park, Echo Lake, and Lake Forest Park Elementary, features tips on how to reduce waste.

The exhibit stems from a contest during the 2010-11 school year, in which CleanScapes invited elementary school students throughout Shoreline to submit their zero-waste ideas and artistic prowess. The contest was part of the company's Neighborhood Waste Reducton program, which challenges neighborhoods to compete to reduce their waste footprint.

On September 15, area residents will have a chance to tour both this exhibit, and the other professional exhibits currently on display during a gallery open house at city hall from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The open house will also include a chance to meet the young artists behind the art on display. No RSVP is required.
