Update: Students From Shoreline CC, Shorewood Who Were Robbed This Morning Get Property Back

Shoreline police pursue suspects on foot, make arrests

Update:

This morning shortly after 8:30 a.m. Shoreline Police responded to a call of a robbery that had just occurred, according to Sgt. Katie Larson. Two girls who attend Shorewood students were walking to school when they were confronted by two men who demanded the girls iPads and belongings. One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a handgun. A second robbery occurred a short time later of a man who was walking to Shoreline Community College on Linden Ave. North from North 185th Street. The suspects were described similarly.

School Resource Officer Rob Bardsley was on scene almost immediately as well as responding patrol officers, Larson said. One of the officers spotted the suspects and gave chase. One suspect was taken into custody the second (reportedly armed with a hand gun) escaped. The area was quickly contained, Shorewood put into lockdown, K-9 from Lynnwood PD was requested and arrived.

The second suspect was spotted and officers gave chase. The second suspect was also taken into custody without incident. The “gun” turned out to be a car charger. The stolen property was recovered. Both suspects were booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery. KCSO Major Crimes will be handling the follow-up and charged.

Larson said there was "great cooperation with the Shoreline School District and our thanks to the KCSO deputies in the area who also helped as well as the Lynnwood PD K-9."

Original story:

Two men robbed three Shorewood High School students at gunpoint Friday morning as they walked to school, causing a lockdown at Shorewood and a foot pursuit as officers chased down the suspects, KOMO-TV reported.

Both suspects have now been caught, and the lockdown has ended without any injuries, said Katie Larson of the King County Sheriff's Office told KOMO.

The incident unfolded as students were headed to morning classes at the high school, Larson said.

Larson said three of those students - a boy and two girls - were near the school when they were confronted by two men who robbed the teens of their iPods and their backpacks. One of the suspects was armed with a gun, Larson said.

When the school resource officer, Rob Bardsley, learned of the robberies, he called 911, and officers were on scene almost immediately.

Officers chased after the two suspects on foot and caught one of them, but the one with the gun ran away.

Police placed the school on lockdown as deputies brought in K-9 police dogs and set up a perimeter around the area as they searched for the second suspect.

The second suspect was soon found at a nearby apartment complex. He was also captured following a short foot chase, Larson said.

None of the students were injured.
