Shoreline Water District Holding Public Hearing on SPU Water System Acquisition, Sept. 5

Come express your views at a public hearing on Wednesday as the Shoreline Water District decides what position to take on the city of Shoreline's proposition asking residents to approve the purchase

On Wednesday, Sept. 5, the Shoreline Water District will hold at public hearing at 7 p.m. at its interim district office, 17534 15th Ave. N.E. concerning the city of Shoreline's plans to purchase Seattle Public Utility's water system.

State law allows the Shoreline Water District to take a position supporting or opposing a ballot proposition following an open public hearing at which members of the public may express their views.

The city of Shoreline is served by two water service providers: Shoreline Water District provides water service mainly east of I-5, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) provides water service west of I-5. Both are separate entities with independent management, operations and finances.

The city of Shoreline has placed a proposition on the Nov. 6 ballot asking the residents of the city of Shoreline to approve its purchase of SPU's water system.
