Shoreline Stabbing Suspect Charged With Second Degree Murder

Doreen Starrish triggered Amber Alert when she stabbed ex-boyfriend and took their two daughters

King County prosecutors this morning charged Doreen Starrish with Murder, Second Degree, for the stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the chest Thursday, May 3 at his Shoreline residence. 

Starrish, 28, was originally charged with Assault First Degree for stabbing Aaron Smith after an argument at his residence on NE 190th Street in Shoreline. Smith, 27, later died from his injuries.

Starrish was arraigned this morning and pleaded not guilty.

A case setting hearing is scheduled for June 14 at 1 p.m. in courtroom 1201 at the King County Courthouse. The defendant remains in jail on $1 million bail.

Starrish has an extensive police record, including drug offenses and assault, KOMO-TV reported.

Starrish turned herself in at the King County Jail on May 6. After stabbing Smith she fled with their two daughters triggering an Amber Alert. The children were dropped by a relative at Smith's mother's house later that day ending the Amber Alert.

The girls were in protective custody earlier this month.
