Shoreline Police Blotter: Teens Caught Attempting to Enjoy Bourbon at Sunset Elementary

The following blotter items range from July 4, 2012 – July 10, 2012. Information on arrests is supplied by the Shoreline Police Department. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

July 4

ASSAULT: Police were called when a man got into a fistfight with his daughter's boyfriend in the 16200 block of 15th Ave. N.E.

EXPLOSION: A man reported a loud explosion at the Meridian Park School ball fields, 17077 Meridian Ave. N. He walked over and found four youths standing over a very large metal grate over a water drainage ditch. He saw them drop something, apparently an M80 device into it.

July 5

FIREWORKS CONFISCATED: Neighbors of Shorecrest High School, 15300 25th Ave. N.E., complained of large fireworks being set off on school grounds. Two officers walked in through the east side of Hamlin Park and observed fireworks being set off. The officers confiscated the fireworks.

July 9

VEHICLE PROWL: Someone smashed a left rear window of a car parked in a driveway in the 500 block of N.W. 178th Place.

TRESPASS: An aggressive panhandler who was asking for money was trespassed from Central Market, 15505 Westminster Way.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: A small dime of bag of what was believed to be marijuana was discovered in the lip of a Shoreline patrol car trunk above tail light by an officer at the end of her shift.

CHILD LURING: A man in his 70s approached a 14-year-old girl and offered her to make a $100 near N.E. 161st St. and 5th Ave. N.E. Motive is unknown.

LIQUOR VIOLATION: A group of 17-year-olds attempted to drink a bottle of Bourbon whiskey at the Sunset Elementary School playground, 17800 10th Ave. N.W. and were caught by police. Each young person was released to their respective parents.

VANDALISM: Five new "BIGO" tags in white paint pen and "FAT MAN J" were scratched into a bus shelter at the Aurora Village Transit Station on N. 200th St.

July 10

ARSON: Police believe a fire at a private residence in the 15500 block of 10th Ave. N.E. was caused by fireworks.

AUTO THEFT: A woman parked her vehicle underneath her apartment at the Richmond Highlands Apartments, 1000 block of N. 192nd St. around 10:30 a.m. and when she came back at 12:15 p.m. the vehicle was gone.

BURGLARY: Someone in the 2100 block of N. 194th St. reported numerous items stolen from a detached garage over an extended period of time. There was no forced entry.

CHECK FORGERY: Someone tried to pass a fraudulent check and identification with conflicting information at Office Max, 1345 N. 205th St., but a cashier caught and declined sale of nearly $800 in merchandise.

FIREWORKS CONFISCATED: A guy was lighting off bottle rockets in his back yard in the 15700 block of 5th Ave. N.E. He had 200 or 300 more and police confiscated them.
