Shoreline Councilwoman Shari Winstead Announces Re-Election Bid

Winstead was first elected in 2009.

Shoreline City Councilwoman Shari Winstead announced Monday that she is running for re-election.

Editor's note: Here is the statement she sent to Patch.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve the people of Shoreline, and I am looking forward to another term of service,” Winstead said. “The City has made great strides in my first term to strengthen our community, build quality infrastructure, operate within our financial restraints and accomplish our goals.”

“We are finally making progress achieving breakthroughs with economic development. New businesses are thriving, and the Council has adopted a Community Renewal Area program to encourage the redevelopment of Aurora Square, an underutilized 70 acre shopping area. I want to make sure the City stays focused and on track,” said Winstead.

Early endorsements for Winstead include Attorney General Bob Ferguson. “Shari has proven herself to be a dedicated and effective councilmember. Her hard work and commitment to issues like economic development and community building will keep Shoreline on the Best Places to Live list.”

Winstead was first elected to the Shoreline City Council in 2009. In her first term, Winstead has been a strong advocate for the residents of Shoreline. She championed the “Healthy City Initiative” that began in May 2011, giving Shoreline citizens enhanced opportunities for exercise, healthy eating and community connection.

Winstead is a 20-year resident of Shoreline and has a long history of public service and community involvement. She was co-chair for the successful 2006 Parks, Trails, and Open Space Bond Campaign, a board member of the Echo Lake Neighborhood Association and Richmond Little League, a founding member of ShoreDog, and a member of the Shoreline Breakfast Rotary Club. She was a 10-year member of the Shoreline Division of the Partnership for Youth Justice and served on several advisory committees for the City. Her professional resume includes working as lead staff to King County Councilmember (now Attorney General) Bob Ferguson, and for a top Seattle law firm for over 25 years.

For those of you who don't pay attention to politics, Shari is a Democrat. Don't you just love it how election articles rarely share this information. Of course this information is purposely omitted in the hope that people will see her overrated accomplishments published by this liberally biased Shoreline Patch rag in the hope of soliciting votes. Nice try! :D
