The Shoreline City Council will discuss the the Sunset Park Joint Use Agreement at its final meeting of 2012.
The Shoreline School Board closed Sunset in 2007 because of declining enrollment and to save money. A citizens group, Friends of Sunset Park proposed turning it into park, and raised money while working with the school district and city to develop a master site plan.
The School District is expected to finish tearing down the school by the end of the year or early 2012.
The city is expected to contribute $204,990 from its Capital Improvment Plan to the project and then take over maintenance and field scheduling of the new park.
The Council is also expected to adopt Ordinance No. 649, the update of the Comprehensive Plan, a culmination of a year-long process that included a significant amount of work by the Planning Commission.
The Council's consent calendar also incudes the following items:
Motion to Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with HDR Engineering for Construction Management and Engineering Services for the Construction of the Aurora Corridor Improvement Project (N 192nd - N 205th) in the amount of $5,113,339 Plus a 10% Contingency
