Shoreline City Council to Discuss Point Wells Tonight

Meeting at 7 p.m.

The Shoreline City Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. and discuss the Point Wells project proposed by Blue Square Real Estate following a public hearing Aug. 31 at City Hall where citizens raised concerns.

The current issues raised by citizens, mostly those living in Richmond Beach, which would bear the brunt of the impacts are as follows, as compiled by the city of Shoreline.

•Traffic going in and out of Point Wells on the two-lane Richmond Beach Drive.

•Many residents are opposed to the project and feel the city should fight or delay it through lawsuits, and not agree to anything.

•Residents feel trust in the city has been lost because there was not sufficient public notice about the Aug. 31 meeting or Sept. 6 Council meeting and people felt the City abruptly changed policy direction with its letter of intent to BSRE and they felt blindsided.

•Residents voiced concern that the letter of intent is premature and the staff should have held the public hearing to receive citizens' input prior to formalizing the letter of intent.

•There is some concern that the city is only pursuing annexation as a way to increase city resources regardless of the project impacts.
