Council to adopt 2012-2014 Council goals and work plan

The Shoreline City Council plans to adopt the 2012-2014 Council goals and workplan at its Monday night meeting following discussion at a March retreat and subsequent Council meetings.

The regular meeting starts at 7 p.m. following a dinner workshop on the August Celebrate Shoreline event at 5:45 p.m. in City Hall room 104.

The four goals are as follows:

1. Strengthen Shorelne's Economic Base

2. Improve Shoreline's utility, transportation, and environmental infrastructure

3. Prepare for two Shoreline light rail stations to open in 2023

4. Enhance openess and opportunities for community engagement

In regard to goal 2, the city would like to acquire Seattle Public Utilities water system in Shoreline if possible and merge the Ronald Wastewater District into city operations as outlined in the 2002 interlocal operating agreement. However, the Ronald Wastewater District and its President Brian Carroll opposes that move. Some clarifying languge was added to goal 2, click on the link above for that.
