Shoreline City Council Looks at Link Light Rail Station Options

The city is set to make recommendations to the Sound Transit Board next month.

When Link Light Rail gets extended to Lynnwood, it will travel through Shoreline along the east side of Interstate 5 and include two stops in the city.

The Shoreline City Council is set to discuss Monday the recently released environmental study that looks at what the possible impacts are around several different alignment options for the project.

The alignment through Shoreline includes elevated and at-grade options. Potential station locations in Shoreline include Northeast 145th Street, Northeast 155th Street and Northeast 185th Street, according to council briefing materials.

The draft environmental impact statement “examines the impacts associated with several topics including transportation, land use, noise, visual and acquisitions.” Review of the statement includes a 60-day public comment period that ends Sept. 23.

Sound Transit is requesting input from the City Council on the alignment options and station locations, as well as the identified potential impacts and possible mitigation.
