Salomon Leads McClelland by 28 Votes

Hand recount a possibility if race stays as close as it's been

Jesse Salomon's lead over Robin McClelland in the Shoreline City Council Position 6 race increased by six votes Wednesday to 28 votes, but the race is still far from decided and will likely be close until Nov. 29 when the count is finalized.

Under state law, a machine recount is triggered if the difference between the candidates is less than 0.5 percent of the total votes that both candidates receive. A hand recount is mandatory if the difference between the candidates is less than 0.25 percent of the total votes that both receive.

As of today, a hand recount would be required because the difference is about .22 percent.
