New System of Mile Markers on Interurban Celebrated Wed. June 20

Project funded by CleanScapes Neighborhood Waste Reduction Rewards Grant

Representatives from the City of Shoreline, community groups, and CleanScapes will meet at a mile marker across from City Hall to celebrate the new system of mile markers along the Interurban Trail, paid for with funds from CleanScapes’ Neighborhood Waste Reduction Rewards – this program rewards neighborhoods that reduce the amount of waste they generate year over year – and City grant funding.

A ribbon cutting for the new mile markers will be held Wed. June 20 at 11:30 a.m. to noon, directly across from Shoreline City Hall on the Interurban Trail.  17544 Midvale Ave North.

The mile marker designs honor the history of transportation on the trail with “plaques” that include historic train conductor signals, the signal descriptions and ¼, ½, ¾ or 1 to mark the increments. Constructed of stainless steel with etched and painted details, the markers are now installed on concrete pads along the trail.
