UPDATE: More Snow, More Closures Including Schools On Wednesday

Shoreline and Richmond Beach libraries are opening at noon and the LFP library is closed; Shoreline Public Schools, private schools, Shoreline CC and Shoreline and Lake Forest Park City Halls will all be closed on Wednesday;

The winter weather continues in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park and its likely affecting your personal schedule. See the following list of closures in the Shoreline and Lake Forest Park for Wednesday.

Shoreline Public Schools are closed on Wednesday and all activities and programs are canceled. Most private schools are also closed and their activities are canceled, including all King's schools and Shoreline Christian. Shoreline Community College is also closed and events are canceled.

The Shoreline and Richmond Beach libraries are opening at noon and the Lake Forest Park library is closed.

Also Allied Waste and Cleanscapes in Shoreline are not picking up garbage and recycling today. 

So far about two inches are on the ground in Shoreline—see the National Weather Service forecast below predicting 2-4 more inches of snow tonight.

Shoreline

Cancellations and closures for Wednesday, Jan. 18:

  • City Hall is closed.
  • Spartan Recreation Center is closed and all classes and programs are canceled.
  • Shoreline Pool is closed and all classes and programs are cancelled.
  • Richmond Highlands Recreation Center is closed and all programs are canceled.
  • Garbage services are on schedule, although there may be some limited weather related service disruptions for customers with limited access, such as steep slopes or narrow street/alley access. Please place carts in their usual collection location.
  • City storm response will be on duty. Please call the Customer Response Team at (206) 801-2700 for non-emergency issues. In case of emergency, please call 911.
  • King County Metro Transit is keeping its buses on snow routing until future notice. It is also planning on canceling up to 30 individual bus routes Wednesday morning due to the predicted severity of the coming storm.

Lake Forest Park 

Lake Forest Park had four downed trees on Tuesday and a brief power outage,but it’s been restored.

City Hall closed at 3 p.m., on Tuesday and will be closed on Wednesday.

The city has two plows going 24 hours a day and sometimes de-icer is used with them.

As of Tuesday, January 17, 2012, Public Works crews had deployed 60 tons of sand mix along with 1,000 gallons of deicer to the city streets. More information on snow removal is available on the Public Works Department’s Emergency Response Snow Removal page at www.cityoflfp.com.

Citizens are encouraged to keep catch basins and storm drains in their neighborhoods clear of snow, ice, and debris.

Late Afternoon: Snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 29. North northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible. 

Tonight: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 26. Northeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible. 

Wednesday: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 30. North northeast wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. 

Wednesday Night: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 26. North northeast wind between 5 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. 

Thursday: Snow likely before 10am, then rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 35. North northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. 

Thursday Night: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
