LFP Police Blotter: Self-described Superhero Phoenix Jones Reports Domestic Violence at McDonald's

The following blotter items range from June 18, 2012 – June 24, 2012. Information on arrests is supplied by the Lake Forest Park Police Department. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

June 18

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: A vehicle traveling in the transit lane collided with a second vehicle attempting to turn onto 35th Ave. N.E. at the intersection of 35th Ave. N.E. and Bothell Way N.E. An airbag deployed in one of the vehicles but the driver declined aid.

THEFT OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER: The owner of Great Harvest Bakery, 17171 Bothell Way N.E., reported that someone stole the catalytic converter from his bakery truck after hearing it make a loud noise. The cost is $318 to replace.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: A woman on N.E. 203rd St. said a black man wearing glasses in his 30s or 40s smoking a cigarette was offering the Seattle Times for free.  A white man was with him driving an older black van which she said was poor condition. She said she came out with paper and pen and tried to get the license plate but the van quickly drove off.

NOISY BAND  REPORTED: Someone in the 15000 block of Bothell Way N.E. was monitoring the noise level in the 19000 block of 51st Ave. and could hear an electric guitar and bass playing music. The musicians, members of the band Tokyo Express Way, were practicing for upcoming gigs. An officer told them the music was carrying past 51st Ave. and to be courteous of neighbors. The band leader was told if the noise becomes a nuisance he would be cited. He said he would turn it down and move to a different room. The officer upon departure he did not hear the music.

June 19

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: A two-vehicle accident occurred at Bothell Way N.E. and Ballinger Way N.E. and was reported at 6:55 a.m.  Both vehicles were southbound on Ballinger Way  in the inside left turn lane.  Vehicle one was directly behind vehicle two as they approached the traffic light on Bothell Way. The signal turned yellow and vehicle two braked to a stop. The driver of vehicle two saw that vehicle one was going too fast to stop. The driver of vehicle two rolled into the intersection slightly to allow the pickup (vehicle two) more space to stop. Vehicle one could not stop and crashed into the rear of vehicle two. The rear seat passenger of vehicle two complained of head and chest pain and was taken to an area hospital. Vehicle one suffered no apparent damage, but vehicle two’s rear end was crushed. The driver of vehicle two was cited for driving with a license suspended, following too closely and no insurance. He was released at the scene.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: The tires were slashed on a Toyota Corolla parked at a house on N.E. 201st Place between 9 p.m. June 18 and 2 a.m. June 19.

June 20

NOISE DISTURBANCE:  Someone reported screaming and yelling at the Woodland North  Apartments on N.E. 155th St.  An officer arrived and contacted the occupants and advised them to keep their voices down. They said they would. Later, officers returned and observed several males walking in the parking area. The group was extremely loud and talking to each other from the parking lot into the apartment, the same one visited before. Meanwhile, one male started urinating beside a vehicle. Police observed that the social gathering was out of control. An officer contacted the tenant and asked for her ID. She said, “you don’t need my ID,” and the officer replied, “yes, I need to see your ID.” She walked into her apartment and left the front door open, picked trash off the floor and hesitated. She  then walked over to the kitchen and then retrieved her ID and handed it to the officer. She was issued a criminal citation for noise nuisance and the officer explained the citation to her.

THEFT OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER: An employee of Third Place Books reported that he parked his 1998 Toyota Tacoma at Towne Centre on June 19 between 2 and 10 p.m. When he returned and started his vehicle he noted an extremely loud exhaust. He looked under the vehicle and noticed the catalytic converter was missing. Three similar cases were reported at Towne Centre in the last 24 hours.

PHOENIX JONES REPORTS A DOMESTIC INCIDENT: Self-described super hero Phoenix Jones said he witnessed a man in his late 20s with a small Mohawk hit a woman with long black hair at McDonald’s on Bothell Way N.E.  They were in white sedan that was later stopped at 117th St. and Greenwood Ave. N. in Seattle by Seattle PD.

June 21

WELFARE CHECK: A mother living on N.E. 156th St.  said she hasn’t heard from her 19-year-old daughter in six months. When she last spoke to her daughter she was living with a roommate, possibly an older man in his 50s and was concerned about this. She contacted some her daughter’s friends and also UW but the school did not release any information about whether she was still a student there. The mother got a call from a collection agency about a debt charged to her in the roommate’s name and that’s why she called police. The mother wanted police to do a background check on the roommate but police told her that would not happen. Police advised her to call of stop by the address in question if she wanted to speak with her daughter. The woman later talked to neighbors and heard bad things about the man she’s living with and called police on June 23 wanting them to check on her daughter.

June 22

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: A property manager reported that a vacant house in the 16200 block of 41st Ave. N.E. had windows shot out by what appears to be BBs.

SHOPLIFTING: A male suspect was taken into custody at Towne Centre for shoplifting at Ross.

June 24

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: A gray Toyota Camry was stolen from in front of LFP Cleaners 17171 Bothell Way N.E.

EGGING: A house on N.E. 157th Place was egged. The reporting party said two eggs landed on his property one of them nearly hitting his family while they were on the deck. They thought the eggs might be coming from Sheridan Beach Terrace Apartments. The elderly couple’s house has been getting hit with eggs for awhile now. An officer contacted the occupants of apartment where the eggs were believed to be coming from but the male occupant denied any knowledge of it and said they would call 911 if they saw anything of this nature occur.
