LFP Hires New Finance Director

Jillian Hostenske comes from city of Bellevue

Jillian Hostenske is the new finance director for the city of Lake Forest Park.

The City Council confirmed her offer of employment Feb. 24. She replaces John Hawley, who stepped down in January after 10 years on the job.

"I’m very delighted to have been offered the position," said Hostenske, who previously worked as the retirement services manager for the city of Bellevue. "My whole career has been in government...it's my dream position to be a finance director."

Hostenske, a certified public accountant, has worked in government accounting, finance and utilities departments and as a budget director.

Hostenske described her role to the Council as "keeping the back of house running smoothly so you can sleep well at night," as well as "working with citizens on what they value."

Councilmember Don Fiene wanted assurance that the trust that had been built up with Hawley over the years over the integrity of the numbers he shared would continue.

"I want to assure you that integrity and and fairness is what you’ll get from me," Hostenske said. "We’ll get you all the information you need in a straightforward way."
