Letter to the Editor: Less Than Impressed With LFP Gov Watch-Endorsed Candidate Opposing Stanford

Incumbent Stanford better prepared to represent citizens on LFP City Council, letter writer says

To the editor:

After reading the candidate responses for Lake Forest Park City Council Position 2, I definitely know who gets my vote. The fact that Brian J. Cathcart is supported by GOV Watch is enough to raise my concern about how prepared he is to work for the interests of all LFP citizens?

GOV Watch folks have one and only one agenda and platform - "78 percent of voters opposed Prop. 1" - blah! blah! blah!  They have failed to put forth any creative ideas or to work in a collaborative manner to resolve issues.  I'm less than impressed with Mr. Cathcart's responses and embarrassed that he did such a pitiful job representing himself as a candidate for public office. Brian came across as unprepared, lacking experience and vision; none of which are desirable as an effective member of our City Council.

As a long time resident of LFP, it appears Brian has sidestepped serving on either a Commission or a citizen task force. There have been many opportunities to serve and to learn first hand how local government functions.  If GOV Watch is supporting him, they did a lousy job of helping him introduce himself to the voters in LFP. That begs asking, "If elected, how prepared is he to represent all his constituents?"

Catherine Stanford's responses were complete and well prepared. Her professional experience is well-founded and positively focused.  Catherine's responses communicate a thorough understanding of what it takes to move our City forward. That came across loud and clear in her statements which showed respectful concern for our citizens. During these difficult times, what's needed is demonstrated experience and leadership, which Catherine clearly possesses and conveyed. Catherine has a well earned base of broad community support. I'm proud to be one of her many advocates.
