Lake Forest Park Water District Employee Being Investigated in Theft Case

More than $300,000 missing from two accounts

The State Auditor’s Office (SAO) and Lake Forest Park Police Department are currently conducting investigations for misappropriation of money from the Lake Forest Park Water District’s district maintenance and petty cash accounts.

The District requested the involvement of the state auditor’s office and the police department.

An office administrator for the district was being investigated in the disappearance of $308,809 in district money, a Seattle-PI report that cited court documents said.

The employee, a woman, was placed on administrative leave, according to the P-I report, and Lake Forest Park police issued search warrant on three of her credit card accounts.

The district declined further comment and as did the Lake Forest Park Police Department while the investigation is underway.

Any loss of ratepayer funds is covered by an insurance policy that the District has in place through the Water and Sewer Risk Management Pool located in Bellevue, Washington, the district said in a press release.

The District said it may be able to comment further at a later time when the auditor’s office and police investigations have been completed.
