King County Metro Service Changes Will Impact Shoreline Riders

Fall service changes go into effect Sept. 29, 2012

On September 29, 2012, Metro Transit will implement its Fall service change.

This is the largest change in Metro’s history and includes five new routes, two new RapidRide lines serving Ballard and West Seattle, two renumbered routes, eighteen discontinued routes, revisions to over 50 routes, elimination of the Ride Free Area in downtown Seattle and a new pay on entry system for all trips. These changes affect service throughout King County.  Specific changes that affect service to and from Shoreline include:

  • Route 5: Monday through Saturday, daytime service frequency will improve from 30-minutes to 15-minutes between N 105th St. and Shoreline Community College.
  • Route 28: Will no longer operate north of NW 103rd St. Alternative service north of NW 103rd St. will be provided by Route 28 Express during the morning and afternoon peak periods and Route 5 on Greenwood Ave. N. Also, Route 28 will be separated from Route 23 and connected to most Route 131 and 132 trips. In the evening, those southbound trips not connected to routes 131 and 132 will begin at the bus stop eastbound on S Washington St. just west of 4th Ave. S.
  • Route 65: Will be separated from Route 67 and connected to routes 31 or 32.
  • Route 301: Will move from the transit tunnel to 2nd and 4th Avenues. Northbound trips will serve the bus stop on 4th Ave. S just south of S Jackson St., the 4th Ave. bus stops at James, Madison, University and Pike Streets, and the bus stop on Olive Way just west of 6th Ave. Southbound trips will serve the bus stops on 2nd Ave. Ext. S at S Jackson St., the 2nd Ave. bus stops at James, Marion and Pike Streets, and the bus stops on Stewart St. at 4th, 7th and 9th Avenues.
  • Route 306, 308, 312, ST 522: Northbound routes will move from 3rd Ave. to 4th Ave. serving the bus stop on 4th Ave. S just south of S Jackson St, the bus stops on 4th Ave. at James, Madison, University and Pike streets, and the bus stop on Olive Way just west of 6th Ave. These routes no longer stop at the transit island on 4th Ave. S just north of S Jackson St., at the northbound bus stops on 3rd Ave. at James, Madison and Union streets, and at the bus stop on Pike St. just west of 6th Ave.
