King County Hopes to Reopen LFP Burke-GIlman Stretch Feb. 10

Snow last month delayed work about a week

The two-mile stretch of the Burke-Gilman Trail in Lake Forest Park that's been going under a $4.9 million major reconstruction since last June is expected to be fully reopened by Feb. 10.

Snow and ice last month made things difficult for the crews wrapping up work on the trail delaying the opening by up to two weeks than originally planned.

"We are looking at the end of next week," for completion, said Doug Williams, a spokesman for King County Parks. "One big project remains: doing trenching and putting down some underground conduit at the 170th  St. intersection and concrete flatwork for the plaza there. Some fencing needs to be done still."

There's a long list of small items that remain, he added, such as trail signage and replacing manhole covers.

"We along with everyone else just want to get the trail open and get folks off the detour," Williams said.
