Delbenne was the worst mistake ever.
Ken Mortland February 20, 2013 at 05:27 PM
J-Rod: Well, let's see now. She's been in office one month and already you've decided she's the "worst mistake ever." Why do I get the feeling that, no matter what she does, you'll still think that way? Art's correct, Republicans need to show up at her local meetings and share their concerns, too. Particularly, Republicans who own businesses that use a great deal of immigrant labor.

Art: I hope she is, too. And I hope Republicans with concerns will show up, particularly those who have businesses use a great deal of immigrant labor.

DelBene is out and about, talking with her constituents. She is obviously very accessible. Now, your opinions may differ from hers and you might wish she would vote differently on legislation. She is giving you the opportunity to express that. If you can convince her of the error of her ways, or the correctness of thinking like you, more power to you. If you can't take the time to visit one of her forums, then write to her. Yes, write your congresswoman! Believe it or not, most representatives and senators actually do read a good share of their email and often take the time to respond. From DelBene's actions here, it is obvious that she wants your opinion! She wants to hear from you. So, if you have an opinion on this topic, and can present it in a respectful manner, she is all ears. Give her a try. You might even find you like her.

A few more thoughts on Ms. DelBene's activities. Ms. DelBene, as a member of the United States congress, is one of the 535 most powerful people on earth. The decisions she makes, the votes she casts may have a profound effect on not only America, but the entire world. And she is giving us the opportunity to speak directly to her. She wants to hear what we have to say. Whine and moan as many of us do about the state of our government, or how we would like to see our country different than it is, our representative is willing to sit down with us and listen to what we have to say. How often does that happen any where else in the world? In fact, how often does that happen in, say Reichert's 8th congressional district? Or Baghdad Jim's Seattle district? Or Doc Hastings? This is a very unique opportunity for us to have our say, for us to perhaps help shape our world. Thank you, Congresswoman DelBene. It is apparent that the 1st congressional district has chosen one of the best.
