City Manager Expected to Announce Decision on SPU Acquisition at Shoreline Council Meeting Tonight
After months of study and due diligence, Shoreline City Manager Julie Underwood is expected to announce a decision on on the SPU acquisition
Shoreline City Manager Julie Underwood is expected to announce a decision at tonight's City Council meeting whether the city will proceed with the acquistion of the Seattle Public Utilities water system in Shoreline.
The total cost of the acquistion is estimated at $40.8 million but the city says no property taxes will be raised in the process. The city has said acquisition, separation, and initial improvements will be paid for with a "revenue bond", which will be repaid from water utility revenues.
The average annual residential water bill for SPU customers in Shoreline is nearly $600 and the city believes that can be lowered.
