Vandalism, Theft at Churches Reported to Shoreline Police

The following blotter items range from Jan. 1, 2013, to Jan. 6, 2013. Information on arrests is supplied by the Shoreline Police Department. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

Theft and vandalism were reported at three Shoreline churches in the first week of January. On Jan. 1, a person reported that he was the victim of a car prowl the previous week, when someone entered his unlocked car in the parking lot of the Shoreline Full Gospel Fellowship, at 15415 5th Ave. NE. On Jan. 2, Saint David Emmanuel Episcopal Church reported a torn banner and scratched Plexiglas on the front doors of the church at 18842 Meridian Ave. N. And on Jan. 3, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, at 14514 20th Ave. N.E., reported that a piece of music equipment was taken from the music room. “It is unknown if it was taken during one of the many break-ins the church has had or if someone who was allowed in the church took it,” the police report said.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: A burglary was reported in the 16200 block of 6th Ave. N.W.

RESTAURANT THEFT: A “dine and dash” was reported at Denny’s Restaurant, at 904 N. 155 St.

CAR PROWL: A theft was reported from an unlocked car at Safeway, 15332 Auror Ave. N.

VANDALISM: A suspect broke windows of a vehicle while the victim was inside the car at 14800 Aurora Ave. N.

Jan. 2

VANDALISM: A suspect broke windows of a vehicle by hand while the victim was inside the car at 14800 Aurora Ave. N.

DUI: A person was arrested at Dayton Avenue North and 150th Street on suspicion of drunken driving after hitting a parked car.

MOTEL THEFT: A theft was reported from an unlocked room at the Shoreline Motel in the 16500 block of Aurora Ave. N.

SHOPLIFTING:

•A suspect put on a coat at Fred Meyer, then left without paying, setting off the alarm. The suspect had a pair of gloves that he said he stole from a Haggens store two days earlier.

•A theft was reported from Sears, 15711 Aurora Ave. N.

CAR PROWL: A “smash and grab” vehicle prowl was reported at Boeing Creek Park, 601 NW 175th St.

ALCOHOL THEFT: Suspects were seen on store surveillance video taking bottles of alcohol from the QFC at 600 N.W. Richmond Beach Road.

VANDALISM:

•A window was broken on a vehicle parked in the 800 block of N.E. 201st St.

•New graffiti was reported painted on the children’s toys at Twin Ponds Park, 15401 1st Ave. N.E.

MAIL THEFT:

•A person reported that his or her mail was stolen from the 19000 block of 16th Ave. N.E., and at least one check that the victim mailed was stolen and cashed.

•A woman reported her outgoing mail was stolen, including two checks that were altered and cashed, from the 20300 block of 30th Ave. N.E.

STOLEN LICENSE PLATE: The rear license plate and gasoline were stolen from a truck and its windshield cracked in the 20300 block of Whitman Ave. N.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES:

•A window screen was cut in a home burglary in the 18700 block of 1st Ave. N.W.

•Someone broke into a house through the rear sliding door and stole items from the home in the 18300 block of Dayton Place. N.

•Someone stole high-end luggage from a home in the 19500 block of Fremont Ave. N. by walking through a gate into the backyard and opening an unlocked rear sliding door.

CAR PROWLS:

•A “smash and grab” car prowl was reported in the parking lot of Sweatbox, 20019 Aurora Ave. N.

• A vehicle was broken into and a purse stolen while parked in the parking lot at the Highland Ice Arena, 18005 Aurora Ave. N.

Jan. 3

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: Someone pried open the east door of Spin Alley Bowling, 1430 N.W. Richmond Beach Road, and forced it open before trying to get into the ATM.

CAR PROWL: A “smash and grab” car prowl was reported in the 14800 block of Corliss Ave. N.

Jan. 4

MAIL THEFT: A man reported that mail was stolen from his mailbox in the 15300 block of Corliss Place. He learned that a few neighbors also had mail stolen.

DRUG ARREST: A man was pulled over and arrested with 2.5 grams of cocaine in his pocket in the 15500 block of Aurora Ave. N. He had a misdemeanor warrant and was booked into the King County Jail.

VANDALISM: New graffiti that occurred in the past six months was reported at Boeing Creek Park.

Jan. 5

ASSAULT: Two roommates got into a fight, and one chased the other with a knife in the 16000 block of Greenwood Ave. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail.

VEHICLE THEFT: A person’s vehicle was stolen from a driveway in the 14600 block of 9th Ave. N.E.

VANDALISM: Someone punctured the tires on a vehicle in the 16700 block of Linden Ave. N.

CAR PROWLS:

•Someone stole an iPhone charging cable from and ransacked an unlocked vehicle parked in the 800 block of N.E. 151st St.

•Someone stole items from an unlocked vehicle in a driveway in the 1100 block of N. 198th St.
