Update: Police Release SUV Impounded for Investigation in Cyclist's Death

Seattle Police say the vehicle has been examined and released, and they are still investigating the hit-and-run death of Shoreline resident Mike Wang

Seattle Police have examined and released an SUV that was seized as part of an ongoing investigation into the hit-and-run death of Shoreline resident Michael Wang on July 28.

Detective Jeff Kappel said that the department can't comment on whether it believes that vehicle or its driver were involved because the investigation is still open, but he said police are still seeking any information from the public that may lead police to the person who struck Wang as he was commuting by bicycle in Seattle last month.

Late last week, that Seattle Police have seized and searched an SUV in Port Orchard that could have been involved in the collision.

Wang, a Shoreline man who worked in facilities and as a photographer for PATH, a Seattle-based international global health nonprofit,  in a bike lane near the organization’s office.

The SUV left the scene of the accident after hitting the 44-year-old Wang about 3:44 p.m. near Dexter Avenue North and North Thomas Street.

Wang was transported to Harborview Medical Center with major injuries and died at the hospital.

According to the PI story, a woman called police on Aug. 4 to report that her neighbor had made statements indicating a friend had hit the man. The woman who made those statements drives a Suburban, and police got a search warrant for the woman's apartment and the vehicle, which was taken to the department's long-term storage facility for processing.
