Two People Critically Injured After Pursuit by Shoreline Police

Woman in car had felony warrant

A man and a woman were critically injured after crashing their car in Shoreline last night, June 7th.

They had been pursued by Shoreline Police, but the pursuit was called off before the crash, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

The two persons injured are at Harborview Medical Center.  The male driver is a 19 year-old man from Everett and the female passenger is 24 years old, from Lynnwood.  The woman had two felony arrest warrants and was in possession of what is believed to  be methamphetamine at the time of the accident.

The incident began last night about 11:30 p.m. when a Shoreline officer pulled over a 1999 BMW for no front license plate at NE 145th and 20th Ave NE.  The driver could not present a valid driver’s license.  The only passenger was in the back seat and she gave what turned out to be a fake name.  However there were arrest warrants for a woman under that name.

The officer returned to the suspect’s car to make the arrest when the car took off.  A pursuit ensued, but was terminated when officers lost sight of the vehicle.  The chase lasted about a minute.

The car was found shortly thereafter at NE 150th and 26th Ave NE.  It had crashed into a tree which fell on a house at that location.  Both the driver and passenger were in the car and badly injured.

The woman was not breathing and had other very serious injuries.  Officers provided first aid to both the driver and the passenger and the woman began to breathe again.  Officers verified there were no injuries to the occupants of the house.

Fire department aid crews extracted both suspects and they were taken to Harborview Medical Center where they remain in critical condition.  The woman's true identity was confirmed at Harborview by tattoos and a family member.  She had felony warrants for narcotics and possession of stolen property, and is a convicted felon.
