Two Arrests in Thefts From Cars Parked at Dale Turner Family YMCA

Shoreline police detective catches suspects.

Shoreline Police have arrested two people suspected of stealing purses, wallets and other personal items from cars parked in the Dale Turner Family YMCA's parking lot.

The City of Shoreline reports that on On Dec. 3, the Y began reporting numerous thefts from cars parked in its lot. YMCA patrons, attempting to safeguard their property, had locked their valuables in their cars, but then placed the keys in unlocked gym lockers.

The suspects took the keys from the lockers and, using the key fob to find the right car in the parking lot, opened the cars and stole the property. Working closely with YMCA staff, Detective Coblantz of the Shoreline Police Department caught the suspects and booked them into the King County Jail.

The suspects used the stolen credit cards and cash almost immediately totaling approximately $5,000. Both suspects are males; one is 21 years of age from Woodinville and the second is in his early 40s and from out of state.
