Shoreline School Building Locked Down Briefly While Police Seek Suspected Car Thief

The North City Building, which houses the Home Exchange Program and privately daycare programs, was locked down as a K-9 unit searched the area late Tuesday morning.

Shoreline Police sought a suspected car thief in the area around 185th Street and 8th Avenue Tuesday morning, causing a brief lockdown of a Shoreline School District building.

Police used a K-9 unit to attempt to locate the suspect, but without success, police spokesperson Julia Haggerty said. The search began around 11:30 a.m., and the lockdown at the North City Building was in place for only about 20 minutes, school officials said.

The North City Building houses Shoreline School District's Home Exchange Program and rents space to private daycares.
