Shoreline Police Make Arrests in Two Cases

Detectives find Shorewood burglary suspect and Shoreline Pool car prowlers who allegedly stole credit cards.

Shoreline Police had breakthroughs in two cases recently and made arrests.

Teachers arriving at the Shorewood High School on Sept. 17 discovered that someone had broken into the school by breaking out a window. Once inside, the suspect or suspects stole several computers.

Sometime during the burglary, someone cut themselves on broken glass from the window, leaving blood behind. School Resource Officer Rob Bardsley took two DNA swabs from the glass.

Detective Diana Magan submitted the DNA samples to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab for analysis. On Nov. 9, the crime lab notified Magan that it had obtained a profile from the DNA and provided the name to Magan.

Magan arranged to meet with the suspect. Based on her interview with the suspect and the physical evidence, Magan arrested the suspect on suspicion of burglary and theft.

The 21-year-old suspect lives in Kenmore and does have prior felony convictions.

The second arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Jan. 31. outside the Shoreline Pool.

Both had their identification, credit cards and other items stolen. There were no witnesses and no physical evidence.

Detective Robert Inn contacted both victims, who told him that their credit cards had been used at a Target store in Seattle, as well as the Fred Meyer store in Shoreline.

Inn began following the trail of credit card usage, collecting video along the way. Inn identified two suspects, who were arrested on suspicion of forgery and identity theft.

The suspects, a 46-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, are from Lynnwood and both have a prior criminal record.
