Shoreline Police Blotter: Would-Be Burglar Scared Off by Yapping Dogs

The following blotter items from Feb. 19 – Feb. 26 and information on arrests were supplied by the Shoreline Police Department. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

February 19

CRIMINAL WARRANT: Police arrested a known prostitute on a driving while intoxciated warrant in the 14900 block of Aurora Ave. N. She was booked into the King County Jail.

TRAFFIC COMPLAINT: Someone lodged a complaint of heavy traffic near N. 183rd St. and 1st Ave. N.W. from noon to 4 p.m.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE: Someone at the Rodeway Inn at 14817 Aurora Ave. N. tried to kill themselves with alcohol.

STEREO EQUIPMENT STOLEN: Someone told police that unknown suspects removed his sub-woofer box with speakers and amplifier from his vehicle while it was parked in a private driveway in the 1800 block of N. 148th St. 

ATTEMPTED CHECK FRAUD: A 14-year-old made a "feeble" attempt, according to police, to pass a forged check at Ace Cash Express at 20121 Aurora Ave. N.

SMASH AND GRAB: Someone smashed a window and grabbed a purse from a rear passenger window at 24-Hour Fitness parking lot, 20202 Ballinger Way N. 

THEFT AT YMCA: Someone cut a lock off a gym locker and stole items from a guy at the Dale Turner YMCA, 19290 Aurora Ave. N.

DUI ACCIDENT: A man was arrested for DUI after he was involved in traffic collisionat N.E. 175th St. and 5th Ave. N.E. His blood alcohol content was found to be .15.

February 21

VANDALISM: Someone broke the passenger vehicle window on a 2006 Honda Accord in the 1100 block of N. 166th St. 

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: A would-be burglar was scared off by yapping dogs after attempting to enter a home at 17800 Burke Place N. through an unlocked door.

VANDALISM: A guy's blue 2005 VW Jetta was keyed at his parking lot at the Northpointe Apartments, in the 18000 block of 15th Ave. N.E. He had an argument with his girlfriend earlier.

VEHICLE LICENSE VIOLATIONS: Police stopped the driver of a gold 2003 Mercedes-Benz for speeding along at 38 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 17100 block of Carlyle Hall Road. The officer also found the driver failed to transfer the title of the car prior to the required date.

ROBBERY: A male suspect handed a hair stylist at Supercuts, 15407 Westminster Way, a note demanding money and then displayed a handgun. He was arrested Feb. 23 by Shoreline officer Rich Torres.

BURGLARY: Unknown suspects forced entry through the front door of a home in the 3000 block of N.E. 194th St. and stole items.

CAR PROWL AT SHORELINE LIBRARY: Someone broke a window of a car parked at the Shoreline Library and stole a purse.

February 22

LARCENY AT 24 HOUR FITNESS: Someone stole a wallet and purse from two lockers in the women's locker room of 24-Hour Fitness. The guest registration and photos identified the suspect.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY: A guy went outside his apartment to walk his dog in the grassy area to the north part of the parking lot next to Building C at Ballinger Commons, 2400 block of N. 202 Place. He said two black male suspects "jumped" him and attempted to obtain his cellphone and punched and kicked him causing a minor injury.

LARCENY OF JACKET: Someone took a security guard's jacket at a casino at the 16700 block of Aurora Ave. N.

BURGLARY: Two individuals were in the office of residence in the 1000 block of NW 181st. St. when they heard a noise in the garage. They opened the door to the garage and saw three juvenile guys standing in the garage next to an open case of Busch beer.

February 24

LARCENY AT SHARI'S PARKING LOT: A waitress at Shari's reported that someone broke a window of a car in the parking lot at Shari's and took a purse and laptop.

MAIL THEFT: Someone stole mail from a home in the 14800 block of Interlake Ave. N. and was recovered by a neighbor.

BURGLARY: A back window of a home in the 300 block of NE 193rd St. was forced open and jewelry was taken.

VEHICLE PROWL AT BIKRAM YOGA: Someone broke out a window of a vehicle pakred at Bikram Yoga, 20019 Aurora Ave. N., and stole a purse. The person later attempted to withdraw funds at the Lake Forest Park Bank of America.

FORGERY: Someone tried to forge checks at Ace Cash Express, 20121 Aurora Ave. N.

February 25

VEHICLE PROWLS AT COLONIAL GARDENS: Four vehicles were prowled overnight at Colonial Gardens Apartments in the 14800 block of 15th Ave. N.E. The rear passenger side windows were smashed out, the glove boxes rummaged through and CDs were taken. 

VEHICLE PROWL: Someone prowled two vehicles in the 16200 block of 15th Ave. NE, rummaged through a glove box and center console but only took loose change.

LARCENY BUT NO PROSECUTION: A former resident of a Salvation Army recovery house at 17925 2nd Ave. NE and stole items from other residents but they do not wish to assist in prosecution.

MENTAL COMPLAINTS: Someone used a kitchen knife to cut her arm out of anger in the 1400 block of NE 154th St. 

VANDALISM: Police arrested juveniles who were caught spray painting RADAR on various locations around 148th St. and Whitman Ave. N.

February 26

VANDALISM: Graffiti, including LVL X3 tag at crosswalk signal post at N. 145th and Linden by the Interurban Trail and #1 US on the dogs on leash sign just north of the Interurban Trail head.

CRIMINAL WARRANT: Three people were found jaywalking at N. 165th and Aurora Ave. N. and one had a outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
